Why ClassDay exists

Managing an academy or recurring tutoring operation is deceptively complex. What begins as a single class list quickly balloons into overlapping timetables, unexcused student absences, forgotten parent follow-ups, and end-of-month cash collection disputes.

Most existing solutions are either bloated enterprise ERPs that require weeks of staff training, or generic spreadsheets that fall apart when handling recurring attendance exceptions and multi-course enrollments.

ClassDay was conceived to solve this with a purpose-built, high-velocity workflow: open the class, take roll-call in under 15 seconds, and let the platform automatically calculate student attendance ratios, flag at-risk retention drops, and record tuition dues.

The Architecture & Tech Stack

ClassDay is engineered as a modern, multi-tenant application built for extreme data density, keyboard-first navigation, and zero latency:

  • Frontend & App Core: Built with Next.js 16 (App Router) and strict TypeScript. We utilize server-side data fetching with aggressive caching, paired with dense, interactive client tables for rapid desktop data entry.
  • Backend & Persistence: Powered by Supabase PostgreSQL utilizing strict Row-Level Security (RLS) policies. Multi-tenant isolation is enforced at the database level so academy records remain hermetically separated.
  • Mobile Companion: A cross-platform Flutter client built for teachers and instructors on the move, allowing lightning-fast roll calls directly from the classroom without needing a desktop workstation.
  • Tuition & Attendance Engine: An automated accounting engine tracks billing start dates, scheduled class frequencies, attendance excuses, and cash collection milestones with audit trails.

Current Stage & Roadmap

ClassDay is currently in active development and pilot testing with academy directors:

  1. Core Foundation & Roster Management: Completed — fast student intake, multi-class enrollments, and interactive profile drawers.
  2. Attendance & Roll-Call Grid: Completed — multi-state attendance (Present, Absent, Excused, Late) with rapid single-tap keyboard shortcuts.
  3. Cash Collection Dashboard: Completed — visual monthly cash calendar, tuition invoice generation, and pending dues reconciliation.
  4. Cloud Hosting & Production Rollout: In progress — live pilot deployments staged under classday.mzdo.space.
